Wayne County Alert System
Wayne County and WJR Team Up for Security: New Countywide Emergency Alert System for Wayne County Citizens aids Public Safety
Whether it is a fire or flood, Wayne County’s new Community Alert System will quickly notify residents of emergencies via a computer, landline, cell phone or PDA. The system is part of Wayne County’s Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management efforts to keep citizens aware of any serious threats or disasters. Wayne County is the first municipality in the United States to use this program. Community Alert is now active and ready for people to sign up.
In commemoration of 9-11-2001, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano is rolling out a partnership with News Talk 760 WJR and this innovative technology on Monday, September 11, 2006 during the Paul W. Smith Show.
